We here at NORA believe Social Security should be there for everyone who has paid in. But are public sector workers being left out?

Some provisions at the federal level reduce benefits for these workers and their spouses. Teachers, police, firefighters, and more may be missing out. However, the Social Security Fairness Act could change this.

Public sector workers aren’t the only ones missing out. As we’ve reported, many other groups and demographics may be coming up short. This includes the spouses of contributors, the children of former beneficiaries, as well as former foster care youth.
