“Pass The COLA Act and Reimburse Seniors”
A Petition to the United States Congress
In support of The COLA Act
WHEREAS, on behalf of myself, NORA, and Seniors across America, I urge the members of Congress of the United States of America to support and pass The COLA Act. This bill will guarantees beneficiaries a fair COLA each and every year.
WHEREAS, I also call on Congress to reimburse Seniors for years of canceled COLAs. This reimbursement must total $10,970 – the cumulative losses suffered during the years of 2010, 2011 and 2016 when no COLA was issued.
WHEREAS, I contributed through years of hard work to Social Security, I expect the Government and our Representatives to uphold the promise of a secure retirement and reimburse retirees for the years when we were given no COLA.
IN SUMMARY, I ask Congress to prioritize Seniors and guarantee a fair COLA by immediately passing The COLA Act. I also call for the reimbursement of retirees – the $10,970 they were denied in 2010, 2011 and 2016 when COLAs were canceled.
The passage of this legislation, and the reimbursement of canceled COLAs, will greatly improve the lives of Social Security beneficiaries during retirement.
