A Very Small Percentage of Seniors Will Maximize Their Social Security Benefits

Do you plan to maximize Social Security benefits by waiting until 70?

If so, you’re in the minority. According to this article by Kerry Hannon of Yahoo News, only 10 percent of seniors plan to take this path.

It will result in a very high check. But in order to reach this number, it requires a lot of patience. That’s a lot of time in the workforce, and many years of older age without Social Security to rely on.

For some people, waiting can be the right option. But for others, claiming early makes more sense.

Where do you stand on this issue? Do you think the max benefit is worth the wait? Or will you be claiming earlier based on your unique lifestyle and needs? Share your thoughts in the comments with us.
