Can You Withdraw Your Social Security Application?

Sometimes we make a choice in life, only to later realize we’d like a do-over.

Luckily, everybody gets one when it comes to claiming their Social Security benefits. Many people apply, only to discover later that waiting would’ve paid off generously.

So are you locked in with this lower benefit amount forever? Maybe not. If it’s been less than a year, you can withdraw your application. This gives you the chance to officially claim benefits later and get higher payments.

This can be helpful for seniors in many situations. Maybe you claimed benefits early, only to realize you could’ve worked longer or missed your place of employment. You could realize you didn’t need your benefits at that point as much as you thought you did, and would’ve been better off waiting.
