According to a recent report from CNBC, 71% of Americans have concerns that Social Security will run out. However, per several economists, that outlook might be unnecessarily pessimistic, and that Social Security won’t disappear any time soon.

Social Security is an incredibly popular government program. It’s true that Congress needs to act as the Social Security trust fund begins to dry up. Payroll taxes will cover most benefits even when the trust fund runs out – but there will need to be benefit cuts. Social Security is a needed program, and our nation’s seniors should receive all the benefits they’ve earned.
