California Representative Mike Thompson has introduced legislation to amend title XVIII of the Social Security Act. H.R. 432 would expand senior coverage for marriage and family services. It would also expand mental health services under part B of the Medicare program.

The next step for the proposed legislation is consideration by congressional committee.

Whatever impact this legislation could have, the bill that will truly make a difference for seniors is The Guaranteed 3% COLA for Seniors Act.

The National Organization of Retired Americans – or NORA – believes that retired American should receive all of the benefits they have earned. A lifetime of service deserves fair treatment. Yet many retired Americans struggle to keep up with cost of basic living.

That is why we support a fair and dependable cost-of-living-adjustment for seniors. It is our mission to fight for a 3% COLA for all of America’s Social Security beneficiaries. With low or missing COLAS over recent years, we believe this adjustment should be retroactive to 2010.
