It’s never too late to start getting healthier. Even as we grow older, and ease into retirement for a period of well-earned relaxation, life is more enjoyable when we look after our health.
Not familiar with having a healthy diet and exercise routine? No problem — developing a routine of healthy habits is easy whether you’re 60, 70, or any age.
Remember that starting out is all about small steps. If you’re trying to lose weight, try having one side with your main course instead of two. If you’re trying to eat better, try to substitute a few junk foods a week with fruits, veggies, or nuts. You can even try a whole new diet to experiment — consider vegetarian recipes for example.
As for exercise, start out by aiming for about 20-30 minutes per day, and do it about three times per week. Remember to go light to start, such as having a simple walk around the block or lifting some light weights. Also consider that exercise can be a family outing, an endeavor with friends, or even a chance to bond with your pet.
