Many Americans agree that it’s time to expand or improve Social Security. And now, 86 years into this important program, several important individuals are joining that fight.

According to The Hill, not only did President Biden run on expanding benefits, but the chairs of committees on Social Security in both the House and the Senate are in favor of expanding the program. This could look like higher minimum benefits and more credits for those who leave the workforce to become caregivers.

The aspect of Social Security improvements that NORA is fighting for? A fair COLA every single year. Over time, beneficiaries have missed out on thousands due to years with no COLAs. The COLA Act of 2021 would ensure a COLA every single year, no matter what inflation looks like. We also call for reimbursement of seniors for the years of no COLAs.
