Many people would say that education is one of the noblest professions of all — but then why are teachers struggling to get their Social Security benefits?

Why is this the case? It’s a complex matter that has to do with a couple of provisions that impact workers who pay Social Security taxes on earnings. But because of how the system has turned out, some educators won’t be able to close the book on their career until their late 80s.
