As we’ve covered previously, it’s possible to live solely off your Social Security check.
While this program was designed to supplement retirement, some seniors use it to fund their whole retirement.
But as with most things in life, this decision depends on your environment. Some states are tougher to live in if you’re living off your Social Security check.
One example would be Florida. Despite being typecast as a top destination for seniors, it does have its downfalls. While it’s one of the states that doesn’t tax benefits, high rent costs make it less than ideal for retirees who don’t have personal savings or private pensions to boost their finances.
Other states that made the list include New York and California. However, it’s worth mentioning that if you do want to live in any of these states on the list, you can save money by opting for smaller neighborhoods over big cities. We’ve also covered a list of states that are ideal for those living off just their Social Security.
