If you turned 66 this year, you may be subject to a Social Security benefits cut and not even know it.
As explained by The Motley Fool, a 1983 law that began moving up the retirement age is now catching up to retirees in the present.
If you turn 66 this year, you’ll have to wait until 66 and 8 months to be able to claim benefits. This is 2 months later than everyone who turned 66 before you.
When you’re in retirement, all your time is precious. After all, you made all those workdays count, and made all those payments into Social Security. Why should people have to wait longer to get their benefits? In a way, this is a benefit cut and shouldn’t be overlooked.
