Even as other federal and state government buildings have reopened, Social Security offices remain closed to the public. And while the Social Security Administration’s website indicates that those who need help can make an in-person appointment, seniors around the country are struggling to access needed services.

In Cleveland, Ohio, one woman was instructed that to receive a new Social Security card, she’d first need to mail her driver’s license to her local office. However, going without formal identification for the weeks that the postal service might take is not appealing to many seniors. According to Cleveland 19 News, some services can be accessed online, but seniors who need in-person help have had no luck.
