Seniors may get to keep more of their Social Security COLA in 2022.

Seniors may be celebrating the Social Security COLA in 2022, but as NORA has been reporting, increasing medical costs may threaten to erase the much-deserved boost to benefits.

It’s unfair that seniors who have spent years paying into Social Security should lose their money just because of inflation in the healthcare industry — and outside of it, for that matter.

However, on January 10, it was announced that the Medicare Part B premium hike was being reassessed — should the adjustment result in lower costs, it means seniors will be coming out ahead.

Whether that money is put toward medical benefits or put in the pockets of retirees who don’t have current medical costs covered by Medicare, it’s something that retirees can be excited about.

While this type of retroactive change is unprecedented, we’re living in unprecedented times, and it’s good to see seniors and retirees getting the attention they need for important issues like this.

We’ll keep covering news on this and other important topics that retirees need to know about. Follow NORA on Facebook and Twitter so you never miss a breaking story.
