With many Social Security field offices reopening this year, Social Security support is facing a big backlog.
Long wait times have been a common problem, as have mistakes that were possibly due to short staffing. The summer heat took the wait times from frustrating to dangerous. Those waiting outside were at risk. We recently covered some of the issues, and provided suggestions on how to manage them.
Some of these suggestions are on the way, like access to water and shade. Restrooms and fans are also among the new changes. We applaud the Social Security Administration for making these changes. It’s always nice to see America’s seniors get the help they deserve.
For those who must wait in line for help, these features are definitely welcomed. What other changes do you suggest? What’s your experience been like with Social Security support at in-person locations?
