A Florida woman could face a decade in prison for receiving her late father’s Social Security benefits.

The woman reportedly stole over $100,000 in benefits. She never told the SSA of her father’s passing. She was also able to collect over $167,000 in his U.S. Coast Guard retirement benefits.

She has acknowledged her wrongdoing, claiming it was because she was “in a financial hole.” In addition to the possible prison time, she’ll be required to pay the money back or forfeit assets in its place.
