As we’ve discussed, Gen X has a complicated relationship with retirement and Social Security.
They’re the generation that will be impacted by some changes to the program that were put in place early on in their lives. But as this group has grown older, the numbers have not favored a promising retirement for them.
As reported here, many members of Gen X lack savings, pensions, inheritances, and other sources of funding to support them in old age. As a result, they may struggle, especially with the potential insolvency of Social Security. Likewise, they won’t be able to leave financial support for their children.
This could create a vicious cycle of retirement struggles. Are you a member of this generation? Are you prepared for retirement? Share your thoughts with us in the comments. Don’t forget to follow us on Facebook and Twitter.
