Are Seniors Respected in America?

We often hear the sentiment that says we should respect those who came before us. But do we?

Sure, we may repeat this adage from time to time, but do we live by it? To answer this question, we must consider who “we” is in the context of this discussion. We must do the same for the concept of respect.

In the bigger picture of senior wellness, there’s nothing more deserved than a quality retirement. It’s key for a respectable life in old age — but do policymakers prioritize seniors and the retirement they’ve earned?

How Can We Show Respect to Older Americans?

For many people, respect means different things. Some call it a sense of common courtesy, while others say it means going above and beyond to show admiration for someone.

If there’s any group that has earned respect, it’s seniors. After all, they’ve contributed so much to our country. Their hard work, wisdom, and guidance literally shape the foundation of life as we know it. But are they being rewarded for their efforts?

Are seniors respected in the U.S. in terms of their future? More specifically, are they able to enjoy a dignified retirement free of financial worries? This should be the case, but sadly, it’s not always true.

Even after last year’s Social Security cost-of-living adjustment (COLA), prices have remained high and the economy is challenging.

If anything, increasing Social Security payments in line with where they should be is the ultimate sign of respect, since it’s about fairness and making sure seniors get what they’ve earned. Will you help us make this happen?
