We know that when used properly, technology can have a positive impact on Social Security.

The Social Security Administration (SSA) has used technology to improve its operations in recent years. Not only did they build a new website, but they even looked into other industries for tips to improve their service models.

One of the most popular technologies of 2023 was “generative AI,” a type of artificial intelligence technology that can produce various kinds of content, including text, imagery, audio, and synthetic data.

But the SSA will block use of it for now. While this solution offers great potential to have positive impacts on the SSA’s operations, it also has risks. Since this technology could potentially be weaponized, and is already a leading concern in cybersecurity circles, that move is a wise precautionary measure.

What do you think about generative AI? Should the SSA look into using it in the future, once security has improved? Share your thoughts! Then follow us on Facebook and Twitter.
