Nearly 85% of older Americans have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. These vaccines have proved to be safe and to effectively slow the spread of the coronavirus. However, it’s still not known how long these shots will provide immunity.
Pfizer recently announced that it is testing a COVID booster shot on seniors. 600 individuals over age 65 who have already received one round of the vaccine are going through this study. This booster shot contains a dose of the Pfizer vaccine as well as a dose of a pneumonia vaccine. If it proves to be effective, this shot could help protect more individuals from COVID-19.
