Data about occupations and work history have always been associated with Social Security. But for those seeking disability benefits, the criteria may be lagging behind — leading to some feeling left behind.

Some Social Security Disability applicants are being denied because they’re reportedly eligible to work. However, some of the positions they’re eligible for no longer exist. The reference is from the 1970s, before the economy shifted from predominantly blue-collar jobs.

Many of the other positions that applicants are reportedly eligible for have either been outsourced, consolidated, off-shored, or eliminated entirely.
