DIY Marble Finishes: An Upscale Look for Less

DIY marble is a great way to add the look of this natural stone into your interior decorating. Real marble is expensive. Plus, it stains easily, and a spilled glass of red wine can leave a lasting mark. However, painting your tables, countertops, and other surfaces by following our DIY marble tutorial can give you the look you want for less.

You’ll need white and gray paint as well as a glossy topcoat. A little patience is necessary as you add in the lines to mimic the look of marble, but you can always refer to a photo of marble as a guide. Getting exactly the look you want might take a few coats. However, there’s no need to wait for each coat to thoroughly dry—the look can actually be more authentic if the paint is still a bit tacky.
