We’ve covered Missouri’s stance on Social Security taxes for a while, as the state has long been considering changes here.
Now the governor has signed a bill that exempts Social Security and public pension payments from state income taxes. While this could be a good move for retirees and seniors, it is not without opposition.
Some say the $309 million the state will lose in revenue, and the 201 line items vetoed as a result, will end in a net negative. Others believe that seniors with more money in their pocket would be a net positive for the state’s economy as a whole. What are your thoughts on this move?
