Slowly but surely, Social Security support staff members are returning to the office.

Stories like this are welcomed news. And they haven’t come a moment too soon, as the lack of in-person support has left people from all walks of life struggling to get the help they need.

The absence of help has caused chaos for people who were looking to get retirement benefits or even those who simply needed a new Social Security card — some of which waited on the phone for days trying to get help.

Support staff can’t get back fast enough — but how long will it take until wait times become reasonable again?
