Though Social Security reform is sorely needed, some politicians aren’t putting seniors first. While President Biden has stated that he will not tolerate cuts to Social Security benefits, Congress has stalled instead of moving forward with legislation that would benefit retirees.

The Motley Fool quotes the president as saying “There will be no compromise on cutting Medicare & Social Security, period. That’s a promise.” However, his promise doesn’t change the fact that representatives haven’t moved forward with legislation that would help seniors.

Social Security beneficiaries can’t wait for legislators to take action when they feel like it. NORA is demanding that Congress passes The COLA Act of 2021, an important bill that would ensure that seniors receive a cost-of-living adjustment every year. Missed COLAs have caused retirees to lose out on as much as $10,970—we’re asking Congress to reimburse seniors what they’re owed.

While Congress stalls, we’re taking action to help Social Security beneficiaries. We’ve launched a new petition drive to urge our representatives to act. Please join us by signing our petition today. Then, follow NORA on Twitter and Facebook so you don’t miss a single update!
