In 2022, Social Security beneficiaries could see one of the biggest increases in their monthly benefits in the past 30 years. The most recent estimates for the 2022 COLA put it at 4% with the potential to go up. If the prices of everyday goods and services continue to rise, seniors could see even higher benefits

Even with this expected benefits hike, seniors might not be receiving everything they’ve earned. That’s because, for too many years, COLAs have not accurately reflected the needs of our nation’s retirees. However, The Guaranteed 3% COLA for Seniors Act could change this. Not only would this bill guarantee an increase of at least 3% each year, but it would actually change the way COLAs are calculated. A senior-specific index would ensure that seniors receive COLAs that meet their needs.
