A new round of COVID-19 stimulus relief payments will soon reach many Americans’ bank accounts. But you may have questions about Social Security and your stimulus payment. For instance, will Social Security beneficiaries who did not file tax returns receive their payment?
With a third stimulus payment, the IRS has had some practice. For this reason, expect payments to go more smoothly. A recent release from AARP helps clarify the situation.
Namely, you do not need to take further action if you currently claim benefits through certain programs, including Social Security.
We at the National Organization of Retired Americans (NORA) believe America’s senior citizens should receive every dollar they have earned. This includes Social Security benefits.
Unfortunately, cost-of-living-adjustment have been grossly low in recent years. The recent 1.3% increase does little to cover actual rising costs.
For this reason, we advocate for a fairer, permanent 3% COLA for all Social Security beneficiaries. This COLA should be retroactive to 2010. Only this way can we justly compensate seniors for low or missing COLAs.
If you agree, please help us in our campaign for a fairer, retroactive COLA for seniors. Simply take a moment and please sign our Benefit Reimbursement Petition to Congress.
