America’s seniors will see a 1.3% Social Security cost-of-living-adjustment in 2021. But is a 1.3% COLA enough for seniors during these challenging times? How has Covid-19 impacted seniors with rising prices?

According to a survey by the Senior Citizens League, seniors are among the most impacted by Covid-19. Senior citizens feel the pinch in the extra costs of masks and disinfectant wipes. Retired Americans also feel it in the rising price of meat, fish, and poultry.

Even the cost of appliances rose at a rate of 17.2% in 2020! So we know inflationary cost of simply living is far higher than 1.3%.

At NORA, we advocate for a 3% Social Security COLA for seniors. It only makes sense we ensure America’s hardworking seniors receive the benefits they have earned!

Please consider signing our Petition to Congress to make the 3% COLA permanent and retroactive to 2010. And learn more about NORA’s mission to compensate America’s seniors for disgracefully low COLAs.
