Do you use a “my Social Security account”? This convenient system provides online access to benefit information, forms, and more.
Of course, security is paramount in a system like this. Additionally, Social Security Administration (SSA) customer support is known to be slow at times, and the agency is always looking to improve. A new feature could help with both of these aims.
Users will now be able to use a Security Authentication PIN (SAP) to verify their identity. Proponents say it could cut down on phone time by 3 minutes. This is a big relief for callers who spend tons of time waiting. And, cumulatively, it could mean a ton of time saved by SSA support employees.
Will you be using this new feature? It’s fully voluntary now, so there’s no requirement to get a PIN. Some people are curious though, and feel it could provide additional security and convenience.
