As many people know, Social Security benefits aren’t just for seniors. They’re also available for many other groups provided the right conditions are met — or at least this is the idea.

The struggles of former foster youth in getting their benefits are laid out here, and there are many other similar stories around the country. While the Social Security Administration (SSA) has said work is being done to help these individuals get access to their benefits, there’s no timeline on the supposed solution.
