We’ve talked before about how people are concerned about the future of Social Security. No group is as worried as young workers, as they’ve got the longest to go to claim their benefits.
Many wonder if the program will be able to provide for them, either in the full amount they’re due or at all. Because of this, there’s a growing sentiment among young workers to have the full retirement age lowered.
The Motley Fool reports about half of young workers support this change — but is it feasible? After all, the program is in such trouble that some policymakers propose raising the full retirement age. As we’ve noted, such a move could be thought of as a benefit cut of sorts.
