Is Social Security at Risk?

Rumors of cuts to Social Security have circulated for years, but some say it could really be in jeopardy soon.

This is because policymakers have already discussed moving Social Security, along with Medicare, to the category of discretionary spending.

As of now, Social Security and other programs are funded automatically. But should this change take place, they would be discussed each year. This means each year, these funds would be in doubt. Some seniors doubt that they’ll be prioritized should their benefits be up for debate alongside other measures.

Much of today’s spending does need reexamining. But should Social Security be lumped into this category? This program isn’t a handout. America’s seniors have paid into it and earned it.

We fight to make sure seniors won’t be forgotten in Washington. Will you help our cause? Tell us what you think of this idea of changing Social Security’s standing. Then consider signing our petition for fair yearly Cost-of-Living-Adjustments (COLAs).
