We recently covered the issue of Social Security overpayment problems, which have been plaguing seniors across the nation.
After the Social Security Administration (SSA) mistakenly sent out more money than they needed to, they demanded it back. Some people were hit off guard by these demands, and their benefits and financial stability were put at risk because of it.
But there are some good stories mixed in amongst these tales of bureaucratic folly. Take this man, who was told he had to send back $84,000. After a couple days of depression and fear of losing his income, he was able to speak with an SSA agent who said the matter was cleared up.
Now he isn’t forced to pay back anything he didn’t owe, and he won’t lose his benefits. It’s always nice to hear stories like this. But how many others are still suffering? Here’s to hoping more corrections are made in regards to this issue.
