Have you ever experienced the frustration of waiting on hold for a long time when calling the Social Security Administration (SSA)?
We’ve detailed some situations like this in past blogs, including callers who were on hold for days on end. In an effort to reduce wait times, the SSA is rolling out a new system. This will see some calls be rerouted to other field offices if the original one is busy.
However, such an approach could backfire. There’s no guarantee these other offices will have the specific information they need to serve each caller who contacts them. While they may be connected quicker, they could very well have to wait longer as the support employee they reach gathers the necessary data.
