Presenting proof is a common requirement for countless government programs, job agreements, rental contracts, and more. Proof of income, residence, and U.S. status are all things we’re used to providing.
But what about having to prove you’re alive?
As reported here by Fox 8’s Peggy Gallek, when Cleveland’s Sam Oliver got his credit card declined, he thought something was off. When he was denied another one, he knew as much. He’d worked hard to build up good credit, but it was no good since he was reported as being no longer with us.
This all started happening after a two-week hospitalization from COVID. While he thankfully recovered, the Social Security Administration listed him as deceased!
This isn’t the first error-bituary we’ve covered. Another woman was reported as dead, and like Mr. Oliver here, she was still trying to straighten out the mess as of the time of our publication.
What good is a credit score of 700+ if your resting heart rate is listed at zero? Not much. But NORA is glad our friends here are still with us, and we hope their situations, and all the situations Americans continue to have with the struggling Social Security Administration, get worked out soon.
