Social Security Error Costs Woman Thousands

Imagine you’re a senior who is enjoying retirement and everything is going as planned with your Social Security.

Then one day you get a letter informing you that you’ve been overpaid by tens of thousands of dollars — and asks for a refund within 30 days! In addition, your benefit is slashed to just a tenth of what it was before.

This is what happened to one Fairport woman recently, and the lack of Social Security Administration office support has made the obvious error nearly impossible to fix.

Her benefit was slashed to just over $200 a month, and after paying her Medicare premium, she was left with a mere $9 in her pocket. Here’s hoping she and the many other seniors seeking to get Social Security errors fixed get the help they need.
