It’s been announced that Theodore George Mills of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania is being indicted on charges of theft of funds from the Social Security Administration (SSA).

Mills is alleged to have taken over $60,000 of benefits that were sent to his late mother. She passed in February of 2012. His actions are claimed to have begun the following month, and ran all the way through May of 2019.

We’ve covered many stories like these before. There are many cases of families being charged with taking benefits that were sent to other relatives. It’s not uncommon for late individuals to get benefits by mistake. Sometimes issues like this take a long time to uncover.

If found guilty, he’ll face up to a decade in prison, up to $250,000 in fines, and a 3-year term of supervised release.
