Here at NORA, we’ve been covering the struggles of the Social Security Administration for the past several years.

Between people waiting in line for hours, being on hold for days, and even being incorrectly pronounced dead, it’s safe to say the SSA’s system is due for an improvement.

One would think the organization would find their ideas in fields like management, finance, and IT – but they’ve actually taken a play from the book of an NFL team.

The Baltimore Ravens have been using business intelligence and data analytics to understand their fan base. These same techniques could help the SSA learn more about its base and their unique needs in different areas.

Technically this does mean the solution for improving support is tech-based and not a football play, but it will be a win either way if it helps Social Security beneficiaries get the help they deserve.
